Darul Ummah Shadwell Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the Darul Ummah Shadwell mobile app handles information. The app provides prayer times, class and event information, announcements, Qibla direction, livestream links, donation links, and mosque contact options.

Information We Collect or Use

The app may use the following information to provide its features:

• Location: Used only when you open the Qibla compass, so the app can calculate direction from your current position. Location is processed on your device and is not stored by us.
• Notification preferences: Saved on your device so the app can remember whether you want prayer, azan, class, and event reminders.
• Announcement information: Public announcements shown in the app are loaded from our Supabase backend.
• Admin announcement media: If an authorised admin chooses an image for an announcement, that selected image may be uploaded to our Supabase backend and shown publicly with the announcement.
• Device and network data: Standard technical information, such as IP address and request logs, may be processed by service providers when the app connects to backend, video, map, donation, or website services.

How We Use Information

We use information only to operate app features, including:

• showing prayer times, mosque information, events, and announcements;
• calculating Qibla direction when location permission is granted;
• scheduling local reminders on your device;
• opening YouTube videos, map directions, phone, email, and donation links;
• allowing authorised admins to create and manage announcements.

Third-Party Services

The app may connect to third-party services that process data under their own privacy policies:

• Supabase, for announcements and announcement media storage;
• YouTube, for livestream and video content;
• Apple Maps, Google Maps, or installed map apps, when opening directions;
• SumUp, when opening the donation page;
• your device phone and email apps, when you choose to contact the mosque.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only as needed to provide app functionality, such as loading announcements from Supabase, opening external services, or publishing an authorised admin's announcement media.

Data Retention

Notification and appearance preferences remain on your device until you change them or remove the app. Public announcement content and uploaded announcement media may remain on our backend until removed by an authorised admin or no longer needed.

Your Choices

• You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. The Qibla compass may not work without location access.
• You can turn notification options on or off in the app settings.
• You can avoid external services by not opening YouTube, maps, donation, phone, or email links.

Children

The app is intended for the general mosque community. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
